Clause: A Clause is essentially a phrase but with both a subject and predicate. Clauses are either dependent or independent. An Indeoendent clause can exist by itself as a complete sentence while a Deoendent clause can not.
Clause is of two kinds: 1. Principle or independent clause
2. Subordinate or dependent clause .
1. Principle or Independent clause: An Independent clause is a clause that can stand alone. It includes subject , verb and object.
**Example : I have a pen.
2. Subordinate or Dependent clause: A Deoendent clause is a clause that cannot stand alone. It depends on Independent clause to make it a complete sentence. Dependent clause is identified with subordinate conjunction as a dependent clause is always starts with a subordinate conjunction and it also includes a subject and verb. Subordinate conjunction is a connecting word that joins two sentences and shows the relationship between them.
**Example: I listened to the song that you told me about. (In this sentence ‘I listened to the song’ is an independent clause and ‘that you told me about’ is a dependent clause.
