ভাষা আন্দোলনে বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমানের জেল থেকে মুক্তি এবং অন্যান্য কর্মকান্ডের বেশকিছু বিবরণ জানা যায় গোয়েন্দা পুলিশের রিপোর্টে। তেমন একটি সরকারী গোপন রিপোর্টে লেখা হয় :
Security prisoner Sk. Mujibur Rahman and Mahiuddin Ahmed, who were received on transfer from the Dacca central jail on 17.2.52 commenced hunger strike from the morning of 18.2.52 to fast unto death or till they are released unconditionally.The civil surgeon, Faridpur, opined on 19.2.52 it was no longer safe for them to continue the fast.
এদিকে শেখ মুজিবুর রহমানের অনশনের বিষয়টি ২০ ফেব্রুয়ারি তদানীন্তন বঙ্গীয় আইন পরিষদের সদস্য আনোয়ারা খাতুন মুলতবি প্রস্তাব হিসেবে উত্থাপন করেন। অনশনের বিষয়টি মুখ্যভাবে পরিস্ফুটিত হয় বঙ্গীয় আইন পরিষদে। আনোয়ারা খাতুন মুলতবি প্রস্তাবে বলেন :
I beg to move that the Assembly be adjourned its business of today to discuss a definite matter of urgent public importance and of recent occurance- namely the situation created by the failure of the Govt. of East Bengal to prevent hunger strike resorted to by Mr. Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, a security prisoner from 16th February 1952.(৪২)
সবচেয়ে নির্লজ্জ বক্তব্য দিয়েছিলেন তৎকালীন পূর্ববাংলা সরকারের মুখ্যমন্ত্রী নূরুল আমিন। তিনি আনোয়ারা খাতুনের প্রস্তাবের বিরুদ্ধে বলেন :
Sir, if Mr. Mujibur Rahman has taken such a decision, I am sorry for it, because he must have been ill advised to do that firstly, it will neither do good to Mr. Mujibur Rahman nor to his supporters outside. Secondly,sir, this is not a matter of an adjournment motion, this is a self-imposed infliction for which nobody is responsible, with these words, I oppose the adjournment motion.(৪৩)
আনোয়ারা খাতুনের আনীত প্রস্তাবটি পূর্ববাংলা সরকার গুরুত্ব না দিতে চাইলেও আইন পরিষদে এর উত্থাপন শেখ মুজিবুর রহমানের অনশনকে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ করেছিল, একই সঙ্গে নূরুল আমিনের পূর্ববাংলার প্রাদেশিক সরকারের প্রতিক্রিয়াশীল, সঙ্কীর্ণ, বাঙালী স্বার্থবিরোধী মানসিকতাও স্পষ্ট হয়ে ওঠে।
ভাষা আন্দোলন ও মুজিব নির্যাতন : ভাষা আন্দোলনকে ঘিরে ১৯৪৮ সালে রাষ্ট্রভাষা আন্দোলনে ১৪৪ ধারা ভঙ্গ করার অপরাধে শেখ মুজিবকে ১১ মার্চ বন্দী করা হয়। রাষ্ট্রভাষা সংগ্রাম পরিষদের সঙ্গে খাজা নাজিমউদ্দীন সরকারের ৮ দফা সমঝোতা চুক্তির পরিপ্রেক্ষিতে ১৫ মার্চ তিনি মুক্তিলাভ করেন। কিন্তু অচিরেই তাঁর জীবনে শুরু হয় দীর্ঘ কারাবাস। ১৯৪৯ সালের ২৯ এপ্রিল তাকে EPPPSO-এর ১৮(২) ধারা মোতাবেক আইন অমান্য কর্মকান্ডের সঙ্গে যুক্ত থাকার অভিযোগ এনে গ্রেফতার করা হয়। তবে কত তারিখ পর্যন্ত তিনি এই যাত্রায় জেলে ছিলেন, কত তারিখে মুক্তি পেয়েছেন তা নিয়ে মতভেদ রয়েছে। ১৯৪৯ সালের সরকারী কোন নথি না পাওয়ায় এ পর্যন্ত সঠিক তথ্য উদঘাটন করা সম্ভব হয়নি। অধিকাংশ লেখক ২৭ জুলাই পর্যন্ত শেখ মুজিব জেলে ছিলেন বলে উল্লেখ করেছেন, কিন্তু ফরিদপুর DIB Memo No 486/61-49, dated the 21st Nov.1950 to the Spl.Supdt of Police, I B E. B-Dacca- কে লেখা নথির তৃতীয় অংশের বিবরণ নিম্নরূপ :
On 19.7.49 Sk. Mujibur Rahman s/o Lutfar Rahman of Tungipara, Gopalganj and Abdus Salam Khan, M.A, B.L. s/o late Abdul Latif of Bejra, P.S. Muksudpur and of Faridpur town, two important members of the Awami Muslim League, held a public meeting, at Gopalganj in defiance of prohibitive orders u/s 144 Cr.P.C.They were prosecuted u/s 188 Cr P.C. and the case is subjudice. বোঝা যাচ্ছে শেখ মুজিবুর রহমান এবং আবদুস সালাম খান ১৪৪ ধারা ভঙ্গ করে উক্ত সভা করেছিলেন এবং তাদের বিরুদ্ধে ১৮৮ ধারা কার্যকর করা হয়। তবে ২৩ ও ২৪ জুন আওয়ামী লীগ গঠিত হওয়ার সময় শেখ মুজিব জেলে ছিলেন। এতে কোন সন্দেহ নেই। শেখ মুজিব সম্ভবত জুলাই মাসের কোন এক সময় মুক্তি লাভ করেছিলেন। নিচে উদ্ধৃত ১৯৪৯ সালের আগস্ট মাসে পুলিশের গোপন রিপোর্টে শেখ মুজিব সম্পর্কে সরকারের মনোভাব লক্ষণীয় :
The student of Gopalgonj town have been trying to organise its separate Student Organisation within the fold of the official Muslim League distinguished from the so-called Muslim students League (belonging to the group of Sk. Mujibur Rahman s/o Lutfar Rahman of Tungipara, P.S Gopalganj, Dist. Faridpur). To this end in view they have been issuing leaflets depicting the organisation of Mr. H.S Suhrawardy to mislead the people of Pakistan and to hurl abuses to the late Quaid-I- Azam for his (Mr. Suhrawardy’s) selfish ends.
On 11.8.49 while some students were distributing the leaflets a band of students of the counter bloc named below snatched away the leaflets and assailed the distributors. শেখ মুজিবকে এর মধ্যে কয়েকবার গ্রেফতার করার সরকারী গোপন নির্দেশ ছিল বলে বিভিন্ন তথ্য থেকে জানা যায়। ১৭ অক্টোবর ১৯৪৯ সালের পূর্ববাংলা আইবি রিপোর্ট নম্বর ১৫৬তে উল্লেখ করা হয়-
On certain information, the officer of the E.P. Awami League at 150 Mughultali was searched at about 4-30 am. Today (17-10-49) for the arrest of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Shoukat Ali, the two militant members of the organisation who are evading arrest in connection with Kotwali P.S. case No. 19(10)49 u/s 147/325 I P.C. and 7(3) B.S.P.O name of them was found there and nothing incriminating was seized. আরমানিটোলা ময়দানে ১১ অক্টোবর নবগঠিত আওয়ামী মুসলিম লীগের উদ্যোগে অনুষ্ঠিত জনসভায় মওলানা ভাসানী, আতাউর রহমান খান, শামসুল হক, শেখ মুজিবুর রহমান প্রমুখ বক্তৃতা করেন। সেদিনের গোপন পুলিশ রিপোর্ট হচ্ছে :
After the meeting a procession headed by Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan, Mvi Samsul Haq, M.L.A. and Sk. Mujibur Rahman came towards Ramna side via Nawabpur Road. Police had to resort to tear gas and a mild lathi charge to disperse the processions. Ninteen persons including Mvi Samsul Haq, M.L.A were arrested on the spot and Case No. 19 (10) 49 u/s 147,325 I.P.C and 7(3) 13. S.P.O was started at Kotwali P.S.(২১) (প্রাগুক্ত নথি)।
পরবর্তী সময়ের পুলিশ রিপোর্টে দেখা যায় যে শেখ মুজিবের বিরুদ্ধে থানা এবং আদালতে ১৯৪৯ সালের অক্টোবর মাসে বিশেষ মামলা রুজু করা হয়েছিল। এতদসম্পর্কিত স্বরাষ্ট্র মন্ত্রণালয়ের রিপোর্ট নিম্নরূপ :
charge sheet no 211, dated 26.12.49 u/s 147/325 I. P.C and 7(3) B.S.P.O has been submitted in Kotwali P.S. case no 19, dated 11-10-49 against the following person: Acced. Sk. Mujibur Rahman who was absconding so long, has since been arrested and forwarded to court. ১৯৪৯ সালের অক্টোবর মাসেই শেখ মুজিব সাংগঠনিক কাজে পশ্চিম পাকিস্তান সফর করেন। পাঞ্জাব পুলিশ রিপোর্ট থেকে তার সাংগঠনিক তৎপরতার ইঙ্গিত পাওয়া যায়।
it will be recalled that before his departure for Dacca Mujibur Rahman got the East Bengal Muslim Student League affiliated with the all Pakistan Muslim Students Federation, Lahore. তাঁর লাহোর যাওয়ার বিষয়টি পুলিশ রিপোর্টে আরও উল্লেখ করা হয় :
A temporary committee of the E.P.A.M.L was formed with Salimul Haq of 274, Nawabpur Road, Dhaka, as president (14-10-49 তারিখ মাওলানা ভাসানীকে বাসভবন থেকে গ্রেফতার করা হয়- লেখক) and Yar Muhammad, s/o Saleh Muhammad of 18, Karkunbari Lane, P.S. Sutrapur, as secretary SK. Mujibur Rahman left for Lahore from Calcutta to see H-S. Suhrawardy with a view to bring some money from him for the party work in E.B. তখন পর্যন্ত কলকাতা ও দিল্লী হয়ে করাচী বা লাহোর যেতে হতো। লাহোর থেকে তিনি ডিসেম্বরের কত তারিখ ফিরে আসেন সে সম্পর্কে কোন সরকারী তথ্য এখন পর্যন্ত পাওয়া যায়নি। সাধারণভাবে বিভিন্ন বই-পুস্তকে তা ডিসেম্বরের শেষ সপ্তাহে বলে উল্লেখ করা হয়। পূর্ববাংলায় ফেরার পরই শেখ মুজিবকে গ্রেফতার করা হয়। সরকারী নথিতে বলা হয় :
Sk. Mujibur Rahman, who was also wanted in connection with the above noted case (No 19 (10) 49 u/s 147, 354 I PC and 7 (3) BSPO- was arrested on 31. 12-49 from 69/1, Khaje Dewan. He is a security prisoner in Dacca Jail(২৫) (প্রাগুক্ত নথি)
